The United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) is a United Nations program with two main purposes: ensuring adequate shelter for all and promoting sustainable human settlements in an extremely urbanized world. UN-Habitat focuses on how member states can continue to urbanize without harming the environment, society, and cultures through urban legislation, planning, economy, and basic services.

Creating New Urban Development Model through Sustainable Housing

We are living in an era where the population rises but the space to accommodate this population remains stagnant. When people find hardships in fulfilling necessities such as housing, it shows that the system has failed to provide for the wellbeing of the people. This issue is most visible in big cities, where people from rural areas come to seek a better life but fail to compete and end up with no choice but to live in makeshift homes. This issue, if not resolved immediately, can even create branching issues, from health to even crime. It is more important than ever to plan for the future of housing, to better lives as well as ensure sustainability in the long run.
